Frequently Asked Questions
About Wood Type
Every wood we offer is of the utmost quality. There is no wrong choice, only personal preference.
If you have found one that feels right, that is our first recommendation.
Maple: The current favorite among professional players. Boasts excellent core density and surface hardness that allow for consistently powerful hits against full-speed pitches.
Ash: A prominent choice, with a long, illustrious history in the hands of many greats. Offers superior internal flexibility.
Birch: A rising star with great promise. Features surface hardness that increases with use, eventually matching that of maple, and flexibility rivaling that of ash.
About Bat Length (Size)
Generally, a shorter bat will be easier to control while a longer bat will deliver more power. The key variables in deciding your ideal range are height and weight, with strength serving as a modifier. Carefully consider your personal situation against our recommendations. Some benchmarks to consider:
- Between 3-4 feet tall, we recommend 26"-29".
- At around 100 lb., we recommend a minimum of 29".
- At 5-6 feet tall and 100-180 pounds, strength and batting style should be your primary considerations. Your range is 30"+.
Cupping is where we hollow a bat's barrel to make it less end-heavy.
Cupping does not significantly impact the overall weight of the bat.
When deciding, the question to ask is whether you, or the bat you are considering, need more power and momentum or speed and control.
Most bats by default will be a -3 weight differential. It is recommended for the bigger barrel models that you use a -2. If you would like a specific weight to your bat please put it in the additional comments box when placing your order and we'll do our best to satisfy your needs.
Turn Around Time
Most orders take about 1-2 weeks depending on time of year. At the end of the check out process there will be shipping options to expedite the transit time of the order; this does not affect the speed of us making the bat and only affects transit time.
